Europeana is organising the third Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Europeana Network, to be held on 2 December 2013 at De Doelen in Rotterdam. The AGM will take place alongside DISH 2013, the biennial international conference on digital strategies for heritage, on 2 and 3 December in the same venue.

The AGM will reflect on the work of the Network and Europeana during the past year and inform and influence the work for the coming years. There will be plenty of time and opportunities for networking and the round table set up in the main hall is ideal for birds of a feather talks or informal / ad hoc meetings. Please take a look at the agenda http://bit.ly/14XHMmt. The two day DISH conference will be made up of small interactive sessions interspersed with inspiring keynotes talks around three main themes: business for creative industries, active audiences and new competences. Both events are key opportunities to network and to look ahead to the challenges and opportunities facing the cultural sector in the years ahead.

Europeana Network members can attend free of charge both the annual general meeting and the reception on the evening of 2 December open for all AGM/ DISH participants. Those who wish to attend the DISH conference can do so at a special discount price of 115 EUR (excl. 7,19 EUR payment processing fee by Eventbrite).

http://www.linkedheritage.eu/index.php?en/146/events/94/padova-venetonight-the-european-researchersu2019-night-in-veneto

The Researchers’ Night was promoted by the European Commission with the aim of giving citizens the opportunity to meet researchers, reinforcing the relationship between science, school and society and encouraging young people to explore the world of research. Inside this initiative the Library System of the University of Padua presented the Linked Heritage project.
Attendees were impressed by the quality of the project. They had not previously realised that libraries and museums were so deeply involved in the digital revolution. Most of them had not yet heard of Europeana!

Within the poster session four librarians – from the University Library System –presented to the attendees – Students, citizens, children – the activities, and goals of the project Linked Heritage. In particular, with the assistance of the poster attached, they were then able to illustrated their work package “Dissemination & Training” and its relation with Europeana. Furthermore they presented Phaidra, the new digital asset management system with long-term archiving functions of the University of Padua.

http://www.linkedheritage.eu/index.php?en/146/events/85/paris-seminar-on-multilingualism-and-terminology

Venue:
Auditorium Colbert
Institut national d'histoire de l'art (INHA)
http://www.inha.fr
2 rue Vivienne
75002 Paris

Multilingualism is crucial especially in a European context. Cultural institutions are dealing with thousands and thousands of digital content. European initiatives are developped in order to provide and promote the access to this digital cultural heritage which implicitely suggest a multilingual access to these collections. Cultural institutions are often using their own controlled vocabularies, thesaurus, classifications, ontologies or any kind of terminology. If European projects and initiatives are a way to bring together these different terminologiest, technologies of the Semantic Web (with interoperable format such as SKOS (Simplified Knowledge Organisation System) are a way to enable multlingualism and a first step towards Linked Data.

The purpose of this seminar is to present national and European projects where the question of terminology and multilingualism is dealt with. Some projects create multilingual terminologies on very specific subjects, some others focus on the implementation of tools to create, manage and reuse these terminologies. The seminar will present one of the achievement of the Linked Heritage WP3 with the Terminology Management Platform (TMP) and will bring together other European and national initiatives creating and developping multilingual terminology resources or tools for managing or reusing them.

By AIR

The nearest airport is the "Marco Polo" airport in Venice, 20 kilometers (12 miles) east from Padova.

Other airports: Treviso (62 Km), Verona (86 km), Bologna (120 km)

The best way to go to Padova from Venezia airport is by bus (1 hour).
