Amsterdam: Global Interoperability and Linked Data Workshop

The Netherlands

16-17 May 2011 - Events organised by other institutions

On May 16-17, 2011, with the support of the Open Society Foundations, a group of participants from libraries, government agencies, and private industry will meet at the University of Amsterdam to begin to identify the characteristics of a technical infrastructure for a proposed Digital Public Library of America (DPLA).

This workshop will examine three distinct aspects of digital libraries to investigate how interoperability works in the existing European and American infrastructure, particularly Europeana, and how it might function in the proposed DPLA. It will also serve to share information and foster exchange among peers, to look for opportunities for closer collaboration or harmonization of existing efforts, and to surface topics for deeper inquiry as the role linked data might play in a DPLA will be examined.
